Fantasy action movie Mortal Kombat is based on the world famous video game franchise Mortal Kombat. It first went on sale in 1992 and has not lost its popularity since then. To date, 24 versions of the game have been released. In 1995 and 1997, films based on game plots appeared. Since 2010, work was underway on the sequel, but in 2013 the project was closed. In 2016, they started talking again about filming a film based on the game. Then screenwriter Greg Russo was hired and Simon McQuoid was approved for directing. The filming process began in May 2019 in South Australia. The main work was carried out from September to December.
